What putter is most used on tour?

What putter does Adam Scott use?

Scotty Cameron Xperimental Prototype Rev X11 putter

Belly putters and long putters remain completely legal to use, so long as they are conforming to equipment rules. What Rule 10.1b addresses is the stroke, not the club being used to make the stroke. So if you putt with a belly putter or long putter, the anchoring ban does not require you to stop doing that.

What makes a putter illegal?

By definition, the loft of a putter must not be greater than 10 degrees. Putters are permitted to have negative loft. However, a negative loft exceeding a magnitude of 15 degrees would not be considered “traditional and customary in form and make” (see Section 1a(i) below).

The club in question is his putter, from a company called Bloodline. While it seems like the type of thing you’d see on a late-night infomercial – think diamond-faced drivers and chippers to cure the yips – the Bloodline putter isn’t just useful, it’s 100 percent legal per the USGA.

The theory behind the Hammer putter is sound. It does NOT conform to USGA rules for putters. The USGA rules for putters require that the heel-toe distance be greater than the face-back on a putter head. This putter does not conform to this rule.

How do I know if my putter is too long?

When the putter is too long there are two things that typically occur:

  1. The player will grip the club so that his arms are not hanging straight down from his shoulders.
  2. The player will be positioned such that his eyes are not over the target line and the putter is not sitting flat on the ground.

Are long putters allowed on PGA Tour?

The swinging motion consistent in all facets of golf is diminished.
